Andrew Garda is a dad. Let’s just get that straight, right up front.

All the rest of the crap – freelance sportswriter, comic and movie geek, beer aficionado, dog wrangler – that’s all just what happens when I’m not “dadding” it up (like that? I just made that word up. You’re welcome English language.)

This bird and I....have a history....

This bird and I….have a history….

However, what does it mean to be a dad? And just as important, what does it mean to be a guy in this world?

I have no idea.

What I do know is, we can figure this out together.

Insofar as the brass tacks: I’m a stay-at-home freelance writer and dad who writes for several national internet outlets about football, specifically the NFL. I have also been known to do some videos, a few of which are a bit wacky.

You can keep up with my sports writing here, if you like that sort of thing.

I’ve been married for nearly a 14 years (!), together with my wife for longer and a parent for almost 14 years as well.

I’m a big fan of all sorts of things once deemed too geeky for consumption by the public but are now retroactively cool. I actually attended San Diego Comic Con when it was about, like, comics.

Shocking I know. It’s like I was roaming the earth with dinosaurs.

I worked on some animation as well and actually have an IMDB page.

Basically, I’ve been noticing more and more dads forging new paths in the world. Just as new opportunities are popping up for women, the same is true for men.

We just have a harder time seeing it.

Just as a heads up, I’m not going to use my kids’ or wife’s name. The kids are referred to as Alpha Tween and The Professor (formerly the Omega Kid).

You can reach me by email (andrew.garda – AT- but be patient—it could get buried in a deluge of football-type stuff.
